DWTS 2012: MRS RUSSELL CROWE AND MCNAUGHT TOP CELEB RUMOURS

As we draw ever so closer to the premiere of Dancing With The Stars Australia 2012, rumours are flying high as to who will be twinkling their toes as a Z-grade celebrity dancer.

As I reported earlier, former NINE personality Kerri-Anne Kennerley, former TEN personality Kim Watkins and Home and Away actress Rihannon Fish have signed on.

Recent media reports have pointed to my favourite former-four-fingered female Erin McNaught as the new 'Lara Bingle' of the series. Hopefully the former Miss Universe Australia and television presenter puts in much more effort and personality than her predecessor.

Australian Idol runner-up Shannon Noll has reportedly signed on as well. The singer is expected to finally combat his lack-of dancing skills, something which much of the Australian public remembers. Ironically, his criticiser Ian 'Dicko' Dickson fared quite well on DWTS back in its third season, coming in third place.

The Fevolas look set to make a return to the dance floor with Brendan Fevola rumoured to join the cast. Although recent sources have dismissed this claim due to his AFL commitments, this rumour still lingers. His wife came third on the show back in season ten.

Former The Wiggles member and man-of-the-moment Sam Moran has not ruled out a possible spot on the series. No doubt most of the Australian public will be rooting for him as the PR surrounding his exit hurt The Wiggles brand, turning him into a martyr.

One for the oldies Brian Mannix has also apparently joined the cast. The former Neighbours actor and member of rock band Uncanny X-Men looks to be making his awaited return to Australian television. As a Gen-Yer, and with a band name like that, I originally thought this rock group was a parody on the lines of Italian Superman.

Last and certainly not least is the inclusion of Danielle Spencer into the mix. The singer will no doubt be getting support from husband Russell Crowe. However, I doubt the Australian public will warm to her.

So who is missing? With most of the line-up above, the show is missing its regulars. Potential contestants may include:
  • Packed To The Rafters cross-promotion - with the drama taking a big ratings hit in recent weeks, probably one of the newcomers like Ryan Corr (Toby) will jump on board.
  • My Kitchen Rules extended 15 mins of famer - either Series 2 winner Sammy or Bella.
  • Former sporting star - maybe Yvonne Goolagong-Cawley or Todd Woodbridge.
  • Politician - Anna Bligh (assuming she does not win the upcoming Queensland Election.)
  • DWTS connection - Mr. Mel B. Stephen Belafonte.
  • The rumour that never goes away - Larry Emdur.

Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming line-up reveal on Today Tonight or Sunrise.

Dancing With The Stars Australia will air later in 2012.
